Standing two stories high, spanning almost 100 feet, Inspiration holds over 300 people from the local community. The mural was painted in 1999 and 2000, but is continued to be added to every year during the 9/11 tribute 48 Hours.

Children are at the heart of "Inspiration". Pilato has incorporated the prints of children’s hands to form the playful texture of the background. The handprints are a reflection of the children in our community.

So... "Who are the people in inspiration?"
Each person, past and present, depicted is of the Centre County, Pennsylvania area in some way. The title "Inspiration" stems from Michael’s knowledge of each person as he was growing up and continues to grow in State College. Meaningful concepts have been embedded into the mural along with fascinating real-life stories of each individual depicted.
